Sustainable building material made from recycled textiles.

We are a youth business from Hetland Vgs, and our ambition is to be leading in the building industry and to make a change in the world.

Our business idea

EcoBrick UB offers innovative and environmentally friendly building blocks that provide a cost-effective solution for constructing one-storey houses. The blocks consist of a mixture of recycled textiles and sustainable concrete, supplied by Saferock AS. The product thus helps to solve two world problems, namely clothing waste and poverty.

Our main customers include aid-organizations and individuals with limited financial resources. In a competitive industry, we collaborate with environmental organizations and contractors. The benefit of our product is that the developing countries can use resources they already have lying around to create their future. We give life to textiles that others have judged waste, but which we believe are gold.

Poverty

More than 700 million people around the world live in extreme poverty. Many of these do not have proper homes where they can feel safe, while we in Norway take it for granted that we live in our safe and solid houses.

Clothing waste

Did you know that from 1 January 2025, it will no longer be allowed to throw away clothes? The actual problem then becomes what to do with all the clothes.

The clothing industry has for many years had problems with clothing as waste. Norwegians throw away an average of 23 kg of clothes a year, burning the clothes releases large amounts of environmentally harmful gases, and this is a current issue that is destroying our planet. According to the UN, as much as 8-10% of climate emissions in the world are due to poor recycling of clothing.
